The Faculty of Law and Political Science at An-Najah National University, with funding from the European Union, has launched the project of the establishment of the Palestinian Institute for International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, located at the Faculty’s building on the New Campus. The Institute is envisioned as an advanced academic hub that promotes a culture of scientific research and practical training in the field of international law in general, and international humanitarian law and human rights in particular.
The Institute aims to implement a wide range of research and training activities within its areas of specialization, serving researchers, academics, legal professionals, and students of law from Palestinian universities and beyond, as well as local and international institutions. It is also actively working to build partnerships with universities and institutions both in Palestine and abroad.
The establishment of the Institute responds to a fundamental need to deepen the legal understanding of international legal frameworks and global issues, and to anchor them in service of the State of Palestine. Its activities include training programs, practical workshops, and specialized legal sessions in the fields of international law and human rights. Moreover, the Institute will organize a diverse set of initiatives targeting youth, official institutions, and civil society organizations, with the aim of raising legal awareness around international law, international humanitarian law, and human rights across all segments of Palestinian society.
