The Palestinian Institute for International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, in cooperation with the Faculty of Law and Political Science at An-Najah National University and the Palestinian Anti-Corruption Commission, organized a field training visit to the Commission in Ramallah on Thursday, 13 November 2025. The visit brought together a group of students from various undergraduate and postgraduate law programs at the Faculty of Law and Political Science.

The visit aimed to strengthen students’ practical understanding of the role of national institutions in supporting the human rights framework, and to explore how human rights intersect with the work of national mechanisms and bodies operating in various fields.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission, Dr. Jamal Al-Qash, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the Commission’s legal, oversight, and preventive roles. He emphasized the importance of combating corruption in promoting human rights, improving public services, preserving public funds, and reinforcing the principles of transparency and equality within Palestinian society. He also highlighted the challenges faced by the Commission in fostering a culture of integrity, underscoring the pivotal role of universities in raising student awareness of governance and anti-corruption issues.

The field visit included also several thematic sessions that addressed key areas such as the mechanisms for receiving complaints, procedures for investigation and inquiry, and the connection between anti-corruption efforts and human rights protection. Discussions also explored how combating corruption contributes to strengthening justice, protecting vulnerable groups, and building trust between citizens and public institutions.

This visit comes as part of the activities of the EU-funded project to establish the Palestinian Institute for International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, which aims to enhance academic cooperation with national institutions, expose students to practical experiences, and develop their skills in policy analysis and understanding national legal and institutional frameworks.
