The legal clinic at the Faculty of Law and Political Science at An-Najah National University, in cooperation with the Beit Dajan Cultural Educational Club and the Centre for Women's Studies, held an awareness campaign in the village of Beit Dajan on 3/9/2024 on early marriage and marriage contracts, as well as legal exceptions relating to early marriage and its psychosocial effects on society. The campaign saw a wide presence of women from different age groups, and the campaign was presented by lawyer Noor Sharqa, a volunteer at the legal clinic. At the beginning of the meeting, an induction was given about the legal clinic and its services, including awareness campaigns and legal consultations, while confirming the clinic's willingness to provide its services to the community.

The meeting focused on explaining marriage contracts and the mechanism for concluding them in the Sharia courts, clarifying the concept of early marriage in Palestine and the legal exceptions relating thereto, and recent amendments to these exceptions. The importance of establishing early marriage contracts in the competent sharia courts was also emphasized. The campaign addressed the recent high divorce rates and the relationship between early marriage, as well as negative psychosocial effects, including domestic violence and high crime rates, because of the spouses' lack of awareness and maturity.

In conclusion, he stressed the continuation of the legal clinic in holding awareness-raising campaigns within its community role aimed at disseminating legal culture and promoting society's awareness of human rights. The campaign is part of the project to enhance the sustainability of the legal clinic at An-Najah National University, funded by the Sawasya 3 program, implemented in partnership with UNDP, UN-Women and UNICEF.
