The legal clinic at An-Najah National University held a training day on the legal organization of the Palestinian Alimony Fund on Thursday 17/10/2024. This training was provided by Mrs. Zeina Khalifa, the Fund's counsel and lawyer. This training aims to enhance students' skills and integrate them into the labor market through collaboration with various institutions in the field of justice, thus contributing to a balance between theoretical knowledge and practical experience in protecting the rights of beneficiaries of the Fund, including older persons, children, women and persons unable to earn.
The meeting began with a comprehensive presentation on the Palestinian Alimony Fund, which was established in 2005, as well as a discussion of the Personal Status Code and the procedures of the sharia courts. Alimony claims and their importance, practical procedures and methods of collection, as well as the role of the alimony fund in reimbursing expenses according to specific cases and conditions prescribed by law, have also been addressed.
At the conclusion of the meeting, practical issues faced by UNIFEM in support of women's economic rights and children's rights were addressed, particularly with regard to the sustainability of the disbursement of maintenance deemed necessary to meet the requirements of a decent life.

This training is part of the legal awareness programs offered by the clinic to raise students' awareness about various legal subjects that are important in practice. These efforts are part of the project to enhance the sustainability of the legal clinic at Al-Najah University, funded by Sawasya 3, implemented through UNDP, UN-Women and UNICEF.
