As part of its efforts to enhance applied legal education and keep up with technological advancements in the legal field, the Legal Clinic at the Faculty of Law and Political Science at An-Najah National University organized an intensive training program on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Law for its students. The training took place from March 15 to 20, 2025, under the supervision of Prof. Zuheir Naji Khalef.

The training focused on introducing students to the concept of AI and its various types, with a particular emphasis on generative AI and its working principles. Ethical considerations related to AI usage were also discussed, highlighting the legal and ethical challenges associated with its application, particularly in legal consultations. Students received hands-on training on advanced AI applications such as ChatGPT and Gemini, where they were guided on how to utilize these technologies to establish a legal clinic that provides legal consultations based on precise standards and principles. The training also included an introduction to "prompt engineering," enabling students to formulate clear and precise legal inquiries and commands to obtain specialized and reliable results.

Additionally, the concepts taught were applied to real legal cases, allowing students to explore practical uses of AI in legal case analysis, document drafting, and legal consultations. The training empowered participants with new skills that enhance their ability to adapt to digital advancements in the legal field, ultimately improving the quality of legal services provided to the community.

This training aligns with the Legal Clinic’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It supports Goal 4 on quality education by integrating modern technologies into legal education, fostering continuous learning and innovation. It also aligns with Goal 9, which encourages the adoption of technology and innovation across various fields, including the legal sector, to develop more efficient and transparent legal systems. Additionally, the training contributes to Goal 16, which aims to promote justice and strengthen legal institutions by leveraging AI to support the rule of law and enhance access to justice.

The training reflects the Legal Clinic’s dedication at An-Najah National University to providing advanced educational programs that meet student needs and equip them with the necessary skills to keep pace with technological advancements in the legal field. This initiative enhances students' ability to deliver high-quality legal services that address societal needs and align with global developments. These training sessions are part of a series of awareness activities carried out by the Legal Clinic at An-Najah National University under the Legal Clinic Sustainability Enhancement Project, funded by the Sawasya III program and implemented in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), UN Women, and UNICEF.
