As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance applied legal education and keep pace with digital transformation in the legal profession, the Legal Clinic at the Faculty of Law and Political Science at An-Najah National University organized a specialized training program titled “Law and Artificial Intelligence”, held from October 13 to 29, 2025, and delivered by Dr. Aladdin Dwekat from the Faculty of Business and Communication at the university.

The training targeted students enrolled in the Legal Clinic and focused on how to utilize artificial intelligence (AI) tools in legal analysis, research, and the drafting of legal opinions and consultations. Participants were introduced to key applications of generative AI, its underlying mechanisms, and received hands-on training on prompt design for legal purposes, enabling them to produce accurate and reliable outputs that enhance the quality of legal work.

The program also addressed the legal and ethical dimensions of using AI in legal practice, discussing the challenges faced by lawyers and legal advisors when engaging with these technologies amid rapidly evolving legislation. The sessions aimed to promote a deeper understanding of responsible and ethical use of technology in alignment with legal and professional standards.

At the conclusion of the training, students presented applied case-based projects, demonstrating how AI tools assisted them in analyzing legal facts, preparing pleadings, and organizing legal arguments. These presentations reflected the students’ ability to integrate legal knowledge with technical skills acquired throughout the course.

This training comes as part of the Legal Clinic’s vision to empower students both legally and technologically, equipping them to adapt to digital transformation in the legal sector. It also reflects the Faculty’s broader commitment to integrating technology into legal education and improving the quality and accessibility of legal services within the community.

The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by An-Najah National University specifically, Goal 4 (Quality Education), which promotes innovative and technology-driven learning; Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), which encourages the use of advanced technologies to foster innovation in academic and professional practices; and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), which emphasizes strengthening justice and the rule of law through the use of modern technologies in service of the public good.

This activity is part of a series of training and awareness initiatives implemented by the Legal Clinic at An-Najah National University under the project “Enhancing the Sustainability of the Legal Clinic,” funded by the SAWASYA III Programme and implemented in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UN Women, and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
