As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance public legal awareness of property rights and land protection, the An-Najah Legal Incubator, operating under the Legal Clinic at the Faculty of Law and Political Science at An-Najah National University, conducted a legal awareness campaign entitled "Land and Water Settlement in Palestine" on Tuesday, 30 June 2026, at Awda Development and Rehabilitation Association in Askar New Camp. The campaign was delivered by Mr. Laith,Abu Zant a participant in the Legal Incubator, with the participation of Mr. Jalal Dweikat, a volunteer at the Legal Clinic.

The campaign targeted members of the local community and focused on introducing the concept of land and water settlement and its significance in securing property rights, protecting Palestinian land, and reducing ownership disputes. It also highlighted the role of the Land and Water Settlement Authority in implementing settlement procedures and safeguarding ownership rights in accordance with the applicable Palestinian legal framework.

The session further explained the legal stages of the settlement process, including the issuance of settlement orders, public notification procedures, field surveying, submission of ownership claims and supporting documents, publication of the Schedule of Rights, the objection process within the legally prescribed time limits, and the jurisdiction of the Settlement Court in resolving disputes related to ownership and land rights.

The campaign concluded with an interactive discussion addressing participants' questions on common legal challenges related to land settlement procedures, the importance of preserving ownership documents, and the legal mechanisms available to protect property rights, thereby strengthening participants' practical legal awareness.

This campaign forms part of the An-Najah Legal Incubator's efforts to promote legal literacy and increase community awareness of legal issues of national importance, contributing to the protection of rights and the promotion of the rule of law.

The initiative is implemented as part of the "Enhancing the Sustainability of the Legal Clinic" project, funded by the Sawasya III Programme, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UN Women, and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
