The Najah Legal Incubator, part of the Legal Clinic at the Faculty of Law and Political Science at An-Najah National University, organized a specialized training on mediation as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism on Saturday and Sunday, 28–29 March 2026, at the incubator’s premises, in cooperation with ACT for Conflict Resolution.

The training was delivered by Mr. Mohammad Hadaya, Executive Director of ACT, and provided a comprehensive overview of mediation concepts and its importance as an effective and amicable method for resolving disputes. The programme covered mediator skills, stages of the mediation process, and professional management of mediation sessions, with a strong focus on practical applications in legal contexts. It also included interactive exercises and concluded with a mock mediation session, enabling participants to apply acquired skills in a realistic setting.

The training witnessed active participation from members of An-Najah Legal Incubator, who engaged in discussions on real-life legal challenges and contributed to enriching the dialogue, thereby strengthening their practical understanding of mediation and its role in reducing reliance on litigation.

This training forms part of the ongoing efforts of An-Najah Legal Incubator to enhance clinical legal education, build the practical capacities of newly practicing lawyers, and promote the effective use of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, contributing to improved legal services and access to justice.

The activity also aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 5 (Gender Equality), and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), by promoting dialogue, strengthening legal capacities, and fostering a culture of peaceful dispute resolution.

This activity is implemented within the framework of the “Enhancing the Sustainability of the Legal Clinic” project, in partnership with the Sawasya III Programme the joint programme of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UN Women, and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) aimed at promoting access to justice and strengthening the rule of law in Palestinian society.
