The training aimed to equip participants with the legal and practical knowledge related to trademarks as one of the most important components of intellectual property and a key instrument for protecting commercial and economic activities. It covered the legal framework governing trademarks in Palestine, the requirements for trademark registration, procedures for filing and following up on registration applications before the competent authorities, as well as the legal rights arising from trademark registration and the mechanisms available for their protection.

The training also addressed the most common legal disputes related to trademarks, including objections to trademark registration, applications for cancellation, expungement, and correction of entries in the Trademark Register, in addition to the legal remedies available to combat trademark infringements and the judicial procedures used to safeguard trademark rights. Particular emphasis was placed on the procedural and practical aspects that legal practitioners need when handling trademark-related cases.

Furthermore, the training included a range of practical exercises and specialized legal templates, covering trademark opposition pleadings, applications for cancellation and expungement, urgent injunctions to prevent trademark infringement, and pre-litigation cease-and-desist notices. These practical components enhanced participants’ ability to prepare and manage trademark-related legal files in accordance with proper legal procedures.

Participants also engaged in discussions and analyses of practical cases involving trademark disputes. These cases were examined in light of the applicable legislation and relevant judicial precedents, contributing to the development of participants’ legal reasoning skills and strengthening their ability to connect theoretical legal concepts with practical application in the field of intellectual property law.

This training forms part of the An-Najah Legal Incubator’s broader efforts to prepare qualified legal professionals equipped with specialized knowledge and practical skills in emerging legal fields. It contributes to strengthening their professional competencies and improving the quality of legal services provided to society, particularly in the areas of intellectual property and commercial law, which continue to evolve rapidly at both the national and international levels.

The training also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the development of specialized legal skills, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by promoting awareness of legal mechanisms that protect business and innovation, and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by reinforcing the rule of law and the protection of legal rights.

This initiative is part of the training programs implemented by the An-Najah Legal Incubator to support and qualify newly graduated lawyers and strengthen the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical application. It is implemented within the framework of the “Enhancing the Sustainability of the Legal Clinic” project, funded by the SAWASYA III Programme in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UN Women, and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
