As part of the launch of its training activities, the An-Najah Legal Incubator, affiliated with the Legal Clinic at the Faculty of Law and Political Science at An-Najah National University, organized its first specialized legal training for lawyers enrolled in the incubator, titled “Insurance Law from a Practical Perspective.” The training was held on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 13–14, 2026, at the premises of the An-Najah Legal Incubator.

This training marks, the first milestone within the incubator’s professional, applied legal programme, which aims to support newly practicing lawyers, enhance their practical skills, and bridge the gap between theoretical legal knowledge and practical application in the legal profession and labor market.

The training was delivered by Attorney Issam Atta Shahrouri, who addressed the legal framework of Insurance Law No. (20) of 2005 from a practical standpoint. The sessions focused on road traffic accident cases, liability for compensation, the role of insurance companies and the Palestinian Road Accident Victims Compensation Fund, as well as mechanisms for calculating compensation, advance payments, statutes of limitation, and related procedures. The content was presented through practical examples and interactive legal discussions reflecting everyday legal practice.

The training witnessed strong engagement from participants, who discussed real-life challenges encountered in insurance-related cases and contributed to enriching the legal dialogue, thereby enhancing their practical understanding of the Insurance Law and its application in litigation and rights advocacy.

The management of the An-Najah Legal Incubator affirmed that this training represents the beginning of a series of specialized legal trainings to be offered in the coming period, within an integrated vision aimed at preparing lawyers with high professional competence and the ability to address contemporary legal issues with professionalism and social responsibility, contributing to enhanced access to justice and community service.

The activities of the An-Najah Legal Incubator align with the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by An-Najah National University, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 5 (Gender Equality), and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), through empowering lawyers and building their professional capacities in service of Palestinian society and the justice system.

This activity is part of the project “Enhancing the Sustainability of the Legal Clinic,” implemented in partnership with Sawasiya III, the joint programme of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UN Women, and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), as part of ongoing efforts to advance applied legal education and strengthen the rule of law in Palestine.
