During the visit, the participants met with the heads of the Directorate’s various departments, who provided a comprehensive overview of the Ministry of Labor’s mandate, the services it offers to the public, and its role in regulating the labor market, protecting the rights of workers and employers, and ensuring compliance with labor legislation.

The participants were also introduced to the functions of the Directorate’s different departments and their role in handling labor complaints, resolving labor disputes, conducting labor inspections, promoting decent working conditions, and supporting employment initiatives aimed at empowering youth and recent graduates and facilitating their integration into the labor market.

The visit featured an interactive discussion between the incubator fellows and the Directorate’s staff, during which participants raised questions regarding the practical application of Palestinian labor law, mechanisms for resolving labor disputes, and the Ministry’s role in safeguarding labor rights and promoting justice in employment relations. The discussion contributed to strengthening participants’ practical understanding of legal issues related to the labor sector.

Ms. Safaa Balawi, Director of the Legal Clinic and the An-Najah Legal Incubator, emphasized the importance of such visits in enhancing the practical skills of young lawyers and providing them with direct exposure to the work of public institutions that play a key role within the legal system. She expressed her appreciation to the Directorate of Labor in Nablus for its warm reception and cooperation and highlighted the importance of continued collaboration in future legal and awareness-raising activities.

At the conclusion of the visit, participants stressed the value of this experience in broadening their legal and professional knowledge and gaining first-hand insight into the Ministry’s vital role in regulating labor relations and protecting workers’ rights, thereby contributing to their professional development and readiness for the legal profession.

This visit forms part of the An-Najah Legal Incubator’s ongoing efforts to prepare qualified lawyers with specialized practical experience and to strengthen cooperation with justice-sector institutions and relevant public bodies, thereby enhancing the professional competencies of young lawyers and expanding their opportunities for professional development.

The initiative also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) through the promotion of experiential learning, Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by supporting awareness of labor rights and employment-related issues, and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) through strengthening legal knowledge and fostering engagement with public institutions.
