The team representing the Faculty of Law and Political Science at An-Najah National University won first place in the 2026 International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition, held on October 4, 2026. The competition was organized by the Ministry of Justice in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Following their victory, the team qualified for the Arab Regional Round, which will be held in Muscat, Oman, in the coming period.

The competition was officially opened by H.E. Minister of Justice Counselor Sharhabil Al-Za'eem and Ms. Natalia Fraga, Head of the ICRC Sub-Delegation. It brought together teams from the faculties and schools of law at several Palestinian universities. The competition was adjudicated by a panel comprising representatives of governmental and human rights institutions. At the conclusion of the competition, the An-Najah National University team was announced as the first-place winner.

The team secured this qualification following strong competition among the participating university teams. During the competition, the students argued a hypothetical case before the International Criminal Court, appearing once as representatives of the Prosecution and once as representatives of the Defense. They demonstrated a strong command of the principles of international humanitarian law and international criminal law, as well as strong legal analysis, argumentation, and oral advocacy skills before the judging panel.

The Faculty and University were represented in the competition by students Mo'men Faqih, Maryam Thaher, and Abdul Razzaq Tawar, under the supervision and training of Ms. Alaa Afana, Lecturer at the Faculty of Law and Political Science.

In this regard, Dr. Noor Ads, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science, expressed her pride in this achievement, emphasizing that it reflects the high level of the Faculty's students and represents the outcome of sustained training and preparation for participation in regional and international competitions. She wished the team continued success in representing the University and Palestine with distinction.

This qualification represents a significant achievement for the Faculty of Law and Political Science at An-Najah National University. It reflects the academic and practical competencies of its students and underscores the Faculty's commitment to providing hands-on training opportunities that enhance students' readiness to compete in regional and international legal forums.
